Mandatory Enrollment of Pregnant Women into
Health Plans Begins October 1, 2008
Non Participating Providers Notice:
Effective October 1, 2008, the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) will require that Medicaid eligible pregnant women change from a voluntary to a mandatory managed care population. All newly eligible pregnant Medicaid beneficiaries who qualify for Medicaid coverage due to pregnancy will be required to enroll into a Medicaid Health Plan. To ensure continuity of care, these enrollees will be able to continue to see non par providers with whom they have established a relationship, until after the post partum visit.
If you have pregnant patients enrolled with CareSource who want to continue their prenatal care with you, we want to make sure to coordinate these patients’ care. Please call CareSource’s Provider Services at 800-390-7102. As a non par provider, you will be reimbursed at Medicaid Fee-for-Service rates.
We will be engaging these new members in our care management and prenatal support programs. It is very important that we are able to work with you for improved care coordination. Once you’ve been identified as a provider for a CareSource member, we will be reaching out to you to ensure great outcomes for our mutual clients.
